What is the processing time of a Russian visa for business?
Posted by , Last modified by on 20 July 2012 03:42 PM

Processing time for a Russian visa for business, unless otherwise stated, is calculated in working days. This excludes weekends, public holidays and the day of application. A list of Russian and UK public holidays can be found here.

The visa support processing time is the number of days that it will take us to raise your visa support documents.  The processing of your visa support will not start until you have paid and sent us a scan, or clear fax, of your passport’s photo page. Depending on the purpose of visit, extra supporting documents may be required, such as when processing a Family Members invitation. We will contact you with a list of these documents if required. Once we have received these, we will ask you to send us your passport so that we can lodge your visa application with the consulate. The visa support processing time is not applicable if you are providing your own visa support documents.

Please note that:

  • The Russian authorities will not process applications for certain types of visa support documents earlier than specific dates, depending on the type of invitation:
  • Applications for Single- and Double-Entry invitations on 12, 8 and 5 working day processing, as well as applications for Multiple-Entry invitations on 18, 14 and 12 working day processing will not be processed by the Russian authorities earlier than 90 calendar days before the start date requested on the application.
  • If you apply in advance of the start date applicable to processing the visa support documents, then we will hold your application and apply at the earliest opportunity or you may change the visa’s start date to begin the visa processing earlier.
  • If you are travelling to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk or other cities on Sakhalin Island, invitations may take extra time to process. Please also see the following information with regards to working in this region.
  • If you need the original visa support document sending from Russia to your nominated address, then please allow a minimum of three working days for this. If you are collecting it from our London office, allow two working days, and from our Moscow office allow one extra working day. To make things simpler, an estimate of when you can expect to receive your documents will appear at the top of our online forms when you order your visa or visa support documents with us.

The Consular processing time is the number of processing days that it will take the Russian Consulate to issue your visa once your application has been lodged.

To work out how many days your visa will take to process and obtain, add the visa support processing time, the consular processing time and any delivery time for the invitation together.

Please note that we will not need your passport for the whole processing time period, just when we need to submit it to the consulate. Depending upon the service you select, this will be either 4 or 21 working days after you have given your fingerprints.
