Posted by Dominic Quiney on 03 October 2018 09:38 AM

We have just heard from our colleagues at the Russian consulate that family members travelling to Russia with relatives who own FIFA World Cup 2018 Fan IDs will be able to get single-entry or double-entry "Accompanying Family Member" visas free of charge, valid until 31 December 2018! We will update our information (including this article) if the situation changes.

Who can get these free visas?

The Russian Consulate have confirmed that only the following relatives of Fan ID owners can get these free visas, and must be travelling with the Fan ID owner to Russia:

  • Spouses
  • Children
  • Grandchildren
  • Parents
  • Grandparents

How can I get a free Russian "Accompanying Family Member" visa?

The applicant(s) for the free visa and the Fan ID holder they are related to all need to go in person to the Russian Visa Application Centre. You will need to take the following documents with you to the visa centre to apply for the free visa:

  • Proof of applicants’ relation to the Fan ID owner; this can be in the form of birth/adoption certificates and marriage certificates, depending on the relation of the applicants to the Fan ID owner.
    • Applicants must bring with them one original of each document and one copy of each document.
    • The documents themselves must be in either English or Russian, otherwise they will need to be translated into one of these languages. Unless these documents were issued in the USA, they do not need to be apostilled.
  • A copy of both sides of the World Cup Fan ID
  • A copy of the photograph page of the Fan ID owner’s passport
  • A statement, signed by the Fan ID owner, confirming their family members’ intend to travel to Russia with them. The Fan ID owner will be asked to complete and sign this in the Russian Visa Application Centre.
  • 1 visa application form (completed online, then printed off and signed) for each applicant. The form can be found here.
  • Each applicant’s signed, undamaged passport. Each passport must be valid until at least 1 July 2018.
  • passport photo of each applicant, taken no longer than six months before the date you apply for the visa(s).

You can use either standard (21 working day) processing or express (4 working day) processing free of charge at the Russian Visa Application Centre to get this visa.

Do I need to give my fingerprints to get this free visa?

Yes, all applicants over the age of 12 applying in the UK will need to give their fingerprints at the Russian Visa Application Centre when they apply for the visa.

What are the rules for using this visa?

If you are using one of these free visas, you must enter and leave Russia with your relative who owns a World Cup Fan ID.

It is also necessary to register your visa in Russia. See our online registration guide for more information. If you are not staying in a hotel and need to register in St. Petersburg, we can provide this service. Please contact our visa specialists to find out more.
